Dr. A. Jayathilak IAS

Dr. A. Jayathilak, a 1991-batch IAS officer, is the Chief Secretary of the Government of Kerala. A member of the Kerala cadre, he was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) prior to this appointment. Dr. Jayathilak began his civil service journey as the Sub-Collector of Mananthavady and later served as the District Collector of Kollam and Kozhikode. He has held several key positions, including Managing Director of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC).
 
A native of Thiruvananthapuram and a graduate of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College (1990), he is known for his intellectual versatility and grassroots governance experience. Notably, during his tenure as District Collector, he launched impactful initiatives such as career guidance programmes for school students. His proactive engagement with educational institutions earned him widespread appreciation. His contributions to the tourism sector played a vital role in transforming ‘Kerala Tourism’ into a globally recognized brand. During his deputation to Chhattisgarh, he replicated this success as the first Managing Director of the state’s tourism board, branding and marketing it internationally within just two years. Dr. Jayathilak, also a former quiz champion, brings with him a broad spectrum of administrative and academic excellence.
