Cochin International Airport Ltd.’s cargo division handled 8996.56 metric ton of cargo; majorly consisted of Perishables and fruits during lockdown period till 30th June 2020. Daily average of International Exports alone during the March-June period was 70.08 metric tons.
CIAL CARGO worked in tandem with Customs and health officials round- the- clock to ensure the observance of Covid Protocol during operation. An SOP was implemented since the first week of lockdown itself. The cargo division catered to 474 flights during the period. 7500 tons of export cargo and 535.8 tons of import cargo were handled in international sector while total domestic cargo volume handled by the division was 141.89 metric ton for the departure flights and 820.20 for the arrival flights. In the domestic sector maximum number of cargo flights were operated by Indigo and Spice jet. Major commodities carried by such flights were Fish Seed, Meat, Mobile phone sets, PO mail, etc. Main ports of origin were Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai and Bangalore
